Five LASTMA officials have been dismissed over corruption. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) revealed that, during their meeting on Tuesday, August 19, 2023, the Lagos State Civil Service Commission approved the Personnel Management Board's proposals regarding the seven officers indicted for corruption and misconduct.

According to the LASTMA Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Taofiq, "While five LASTMA officials indicted for corruption received a letter of termination of appointment, the remaining two received a letter of reprimand for absence from duty posts without leave." Taofiq quoted the agency’s acting General Manager, Bakare Oki, saying that the disciplinary action taken adhered to the Lagos State Civil Service Rules and Regulations.

Furthermore, emphasized the importance of the public sharing experiences and evidence related to alleged misdemeanours for the agency's improvement. He urged Lagos drivers to comply with traffic laws, reassuring the public that complaints would be promptly and impartially addressed.

Nonetheless, Taofiq mentioned that cases against the remaining 14 indicted LASTMA officials are awaiting further administrative review, emphasizing adherence to the Lagos State Transportation Sector Reform Law 2018. He provided contact details for lodging complaints and assured the public of prompt and impartial investigations. Oki concluded by urging every motoring public to abide by the Lagos State Transportation Sector Reform Law 2018, disclosing that cases against the remaining 14 indicted LASTMA officials are undergoing additional administrative review.
