GOVERNOR BELLO SACKS KOGI REVENUE SERVICE CHAIRMAN, MEMBERS OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE COMMISSION

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has sacked the Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS), Alhaji Nda Aliyu Salami, for misappropriation of funds.

Kingsley Fanwo, the State’s commissioner for information and communication, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, September 21, 2020.

Fanwo revealed that the State Government was not comfortable with its inability to embark on any meaningful projects since January 2020 due to poor internal revenue generation from the agency.

He said the KIRS have not been able to meet the deadline of the amount required from them since the beginning of the year.

According to the Commissioner’s statement, the KIRS violated corporate governance protocols and the State Government had to act to save the service from further violations.
