POLICE ARRESTS SEVEN SUSPECTS FOR ATTACKING OPERATIVES OF THE LAGOS STATE TASK FORCE

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with the attacks on operatives of the Lagos State Taskforce.


This comes 24 hours after violence erupted at Ikeja along on Wednesday, November 18, following a clash between men of the Lagos State Task Force and Okada riders.


In a statement on Thursday, November 18, the State's Police PRO, Adejobi Olumuyiwa, reiterated the command's readiness to curtail any act of lawlessness on full enforcement of the Lagos State Transport Sector Law (2018) in the State.



He said the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, warned all okada operators and other categories of violators to respect the law as any attack on police officers and other security agents in the State will not be tolerated.


The CP emphasized on the need to clamp down on traffic violators who have occasioned series of lawlessness, road crashes and accidents leaving many lives lost and properties damaged. 


The Police PRO added that the arrested suspects would be charged to court so as to serve as deterrent to others who attack security operatives while on their lawful duties. 


Similarly, the Police Command arrested some traffic robbers at various locations in the State.


The Police Operatives attached to Morogbo division, while on patrol along the Badagary Expressway, engaged a gang of traffic armed robbers in a gun duel where one of the gang members fell while others fled.


Items recovered from the gang include; a locally-made gun with some live cartridges recovered and the Corporal's snatched motorcycle.

In the same vein, the State's police command attached to the Victoria Island Division, on Wednesday, November 18, engaged another syndicate and arrested one of them identified as Lateef Ajayi, a 19-year old who was in possession of a fake gun.

 

The Police Boss has ordered that the suspects be taken to the State CID, Panti for discreet investigation.


He also urged residents of Lagos to rise up and support security operatives in providing adequate protection at various communities across the State. 


Recall, On Wednesday, November 17, Eons Intelligence reported that a commuter was robbed at gunpoint at PWD, Ikeja along at about 9pm.


Several other commuters have narrated how robbers have been operating brazenly in the early hours of the morning, and late at night.
