55 OIL WORKERS ESCAPE DEATH IN JACK UP RIG FIRE

Tragedy was averted in Ondo state as at least 55 oil workers escaped death in an offshore construction jack up rig fire mishap on Friday, May 15.

Bellator, a ship owned by an American company, CS Liftboats, caught fire about 08:42 in the morning while the rig was operating in Ororo well 1 at offshore Forcados.

Fortunately, all personnel on board were successfully evacuated to a safe boat.

A similar incident occurred earlier in the year when K.S. Endeavor, a ship run on behalf of Chevron Nigeria Ltd caught fire in January claiming two lives.
