NIGERIA IMPOUNDS UK PLANE FOR "CALLOUSLY" CONDUCTING FLIGHT OPERATIONS
Nigeria has impounded an aeroplane belonging to a UK company called Flair Aviation for conducting commercial flights despite the ban on air travels caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Minister of Aviation Sirika Hadi said Flair Aviation was given approval for humanitarian operations "regrettably we caught them conducting commercial flights."
Hadi referred to the actions of the UK company as callous.
According to the Minister, the flight has been impounded, and the crew are being interrogated.
"COVID-19. Flair Aviation, a UK company, was given approval for humanitarian operations but regrettably, we caught them conducting commercial flights. This is callous. The craft is impounded, crew being interrogated. There shall be maximum penalty. Wrong time to try our resolve" Hadi Sirika said in Tweet on Sunday.
Nigeria banned all flight operations in March to curb the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
