POLICE ARREST 18 SUSPECTS INVOLVED IN DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTIES IN ABIA

Abia State Police command has arrested 18 suspects in connection with the violent attacks and destruction of properties during the hijacked #EndSARS protests in the State.


This was disclosed by the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Janet Agbede, on Wednesday, October 28, in Umuahia, the State capital.


Agbede said detectives recovered one FNC rifle with 12 rounds of live ammunition and other weapons from the suspects.

Agbede, who listed the areas attacked by the looters, to include five banks in Aba, two courts, among others, warned other perpetrators who are still within the state to desist from the act or face the full wrath of the law.


The Police authorities said the suspects would be charged to court at the end of ongoing investigations.


The Police Commissioner also debunked the rumour that the Fulanis in Abia State are grouping for an attack on the people of the State.

Eons Intelligence had reported that armed hoodlums on Thursday, October 22, broke into the National Correctional Service Centre in Uhmuahia, Abia State in an attempt to free inmates.


However, a combined team of security personnel in Abia foiled theattempt by hoodlums to break into the Afara Custodial Centre.
