MANAGER OF HOTEL DEMOLISHED FOR FLOUTING LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS IN RIVERS STATE TESTS POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS

The manager of the hotel demolished in Rivers State under the supervision of Governor Wike has tested positive for Coronavirus, Paul Nsirim, the State's Commissioner for Information and Communication said on Sunday evening.  


The manager of the demolished Prodest Hotel is one of the 27 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in the state. 


According to Nsirim, the development validates the State Government's proactive fight against COVID-19, the Vanguard reports. 


Recall that Governor Nyesom Wike faced heavy criticism when he ordered the demolition of two hotels for flouting lockdown restrictions put in place to curb the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Commissioner revealed that one of the COVID- 19 Taskforce members involved in the demolition died after being attacked:


"The COVID-19 Taskforce members from the Local Government who went to enforce the Executive Order were brutalized and dehumanized leading to the death of one of them."
