THE PLAZA WAS BUILT ON A PARKING LOT- FCTA RESPONDS TO VIDEO SHOWING AUTHORITIES DEMOLISHING A SHOPPING MALL IN ABUJA
The Federal Capital Territory Administration FCTA has responded to the viral video of authorities demolishing a shopping mall at Ben Lobito Crescent Abuja saying the owner of the building erected his shopping mall on a parking lot.
Speaking to Eons Intelligence on the phone, a representative of the FCTA confirmed that the authorities sanctioned the demolition exercise following the owners continuous disregard of several notices sent to him, adding that he illegally cut down trees in the FCT so his plaza can be visible.
“We are aware of the situation, he has been warned several times, where he built the plaza is approved parking lot and he did not heed warning, he cut down the trees so his plaza can be visible,” the spokesperson told Eons Intelligence.
When asked if there was a formal announcement made to alert the occupants of the building before demolition began, the official responded with “I cannot help you with that.”
Last week, a business woman in Abuja posted a video accusing officials of illegally sealing up her restaurant with customers locked in.
The CEO of the restaurant has, in another video, apologised to FCTA, AMAC & the general public saying her staff had been receiving court summons without informing her.
