BANDITS ATTACK VILLAGE, KILL NINE IN KADUNA STATE
About nine villagers were murdered following the bandits' attack around 0800hrs on 12th April 2023 at Sabon Layi village near Kakangi town, Birnin Gwari area, Kaduna State.
The information available indicates that the bandits stormed the village in the morning and were shooting sporadically for about an hour, rustling livestock, and looting properties in the village.
About five bodies of the villagers were recovered within the village, and four other bodies were found in a nearby bush while some residents escaped the attack.
Confirming the attack, the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the air strikes from the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch were ordered to scan the village. While scanning, it was revealed that normal human activities were in place at the location, but the bandits were sighted four kilometers far North of Sabon Layi village, fleeing for cover from the aircraft. They were engaged and neutralized in several passes.
