LAGOSIANS TO ENJOY REMOTE NON-COVID CONSULTATION VIA 'EKO TELEMED' SCHEME
As part of measures to curtail the spread and reduce the risk of contracting Coronavirus in Lagos State, the State Government has launched a scheme called "EKO TELEMED" for residents.
This was disclosed by the General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, on Tuesday, 21st April, while briefing the general public on the scheme.
Emmanuella said that the exercise will keep off from Wednesday, 22nd April. He added that residents, from their homes, would be attended to via voice or video calls by highly trained and experienced doctors for non-emergency Primary care consultation.
He urged residents with Non-COVID-19 health issues during the lockdown period to contact 080000EKOMED(080000356633) toll-free line for consultation.
She stated further;
"the toll-free line would enable residents have direct access to non-emergency Primary care via voice or video call and speak with trained medical doctors in any of the four major languages in Lagos State - English Language, Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo".
She emphasized that Doctors and Case Managers would be available 24/7 on the interface and if need be for medical treatment after consultation, non coronavirus would be referred to designated Healthcare Providers under the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS) or preferred Healthcare Providers.
However, if patient shows symptoms of coronavirus, such patient would be directed to testing sites and isolation centre in Lagos State.
Dr. Zamba Emmanuella commends the effort of the Governor of the State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for approving the project designed by LASHMA.
“The project would increase access to care, reduce the challenge of going to hospitals during this period of restricted movements, except for emergencies. It would also create an entry point for the quicker evacuation of confirmed and severely ill COVID-19 cases to the designated treatment facility. This is aimed at ensuring better health outcomes for affected citizens, thereby reducing morbidity and mortality associated with the pandemic”.
She reiterated that ‘EKO TELEMED’ marks a new beginning in combating health issues in the state.
The LASHMA Boss urges residents to abide by all measures adviced by the government; social distancing, washing of hands and wearing of face masks to curb the spread of Coronavirus.
