Police Foil Robbery Attempt in Ajegunle, Arrest Two Suspects and Recover Firearm

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have thwarted an armed robbery attempt and arrested two suspects in connection with the incident in the Ajegunle area of the state.

According to the Command, the arrests were made in the early hours of April 28, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., following several complaints from residents about rising cases of robbery along Layeni Ojo Road, Ajegunle.


The suspects, identified as Azeez Anofi, also known as "Stainless," and Damilare Obadia, both aged 25, were apprehended by officers attached to the Layeni Division as they attempted to hijack a tricycle, commonly referred to as Keke Marwa.

During the operation, police recovered one locally-made pistol and one expended cartridge from the suspects. Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to apprehend additional members of the gang and to recover more weapons believed to be in their possession.


Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the swift and effective response of the officers involved. He also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies for prompt intervention.


The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across the state.
