SUSPECTED HERDSMEN IN MILITARY UNIFORM KIDNAP THREE PERSONS ALONG LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY

Assailants suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen have abducted three persons along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The kidnappers, numbering about 10, were said to have emerged from a bush along the expressway shooting sporadically at vehicles and other commuters.

It was gathered that the victims, who are staff members of a company, were coming from an event when their car broke down. Sources disclose that the car was being repaired when the assailants emerged from the bush and ambushed them.

The niece of one of the victims took to her official Twitter handle and said; "My Uncle has been kidnapped together with two of his friends along lagos - ibadan expressway... SOUTH WEST IS ON FIRE.. the fulanis are taking over our bushes, they video called and these kidnappers are on military uniforms speaking hausa .

"This happened yesterday on their way back to lagos from an event in ibadan... they're demanding 20M, 5M per head.. and they said they'd kill them by 12 tomorrow if the money is not available.. Yoruba land is no longer safe, they are here, the fulanis are here."

It should be recalled that Nollywood Star Bimpe Akintunde escaped a bandits attack along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway recently.

Four passengers were eventually abducted in a separate incident that same day on the Onigari axis while their driver was killed.

The Nollywood actress, who narrated the incident via her official Instagram page, revealed the assailants ambushed her at Oni-garri axis and shot sporadically at her vehicle and others who were plying the route.

She wrote; “Let’s be careful on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, I escaped the bandits’ attack at around 5 pm this evening, after Oni-Garri on my way to Lagos. They were shooting at all the vehicles coming from Ibadan, they were like ten in army uniform shooting directly at us. God save me and my daughter, I can’t believe this.

“Like they were shooting directly at us!!!!! where are we going in this country, broad daylight attack!!!!! God came through for us, I turn back! followed one way and alerts other drivers too. Just help me thank God for my life and that of my innocent daughter. We are back in Ibadan state and healthy but in shock.”
