PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES FAR BETTER THAN PRIVATE - ASUU

The Academic Staff of Union Universities (ASUU) has said that public universities are better than private universities.

The Union made the remark in a tweet via its Twitter handle on Tuesday, August 25.

The Union, while speaking on the ongoing strike, said it is fighting for the interest of the provoked students.

It said without the Union, "most of you (students) will not find public schools and interesting schools to study.

"You should be grateful that we are fighting for your best interest and irrespective of the strike actions, public Universities are still far better than private Universities."

ASUU had urged Nigerian students to cooperate with it, as it awaits the Federal Government to respond to its request.

As the debate continues on the re-opening of schools in Nigeria, following the gradual ease in lockdown, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on July 19, issued new conditions for the reopening of tertiary institutions across the country.

The union asked the Federal Government to pay up all arrears of the withheld salaries of

its members in both Federal and State Universities, among other conditions.

It also announced the development of an alternative to the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPI) called University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS).
