NAME LAWMAKERS WHO RECEIVED NDDC CONTRACTS WITHIN 48 HOURS- GBAJABIAMILA TELLS AKPABIO
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has ordered the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio to name the lawmakers who received contracts from the Niger Delta Development Commission within 48 hours.
Recall that there was drama on Monday when Akpabio declared before the House Committee that lawmakers were the “greatest beneficiaries” of NDDC contracts.

When probed further, Akpabio claimed, “we have records to show that most of the contracts in the NDDC are given out to members of the National Assembly.”
Speaking at the plenary on Tuesday, July 21, Gbajabiamila said Akpabio owes it to the country to reveal the names of the beneficiaries. Hence, the House will employ the full wrath of the law to ensure the Minister speaks.
Akpabio’s allegation has greatly soiled the reputation and integrity of the Committee set up to probe the alleged misappropriated funds perpetrated by the NDDC.

The Speaker, who has been a law maker since 2003, tried to clear his name and that of his colleagues. He has also promised to take Akpabio’s allegations seriously.
“This is my 5th term here, and I have never for once collected anything from the National Assembly, and I know I speak for a great majority of members of this House, a great majority. And because of that, I will take this allegation and accusation very seriously,” Gbajabiamila said.
