BANDITS KIDNAP IMAM, 17 WORSHIPPERS AT ZAMFARA MOSQUE

Armed bandits on motorcycles have attacked a Jumuat mosque in Dutsen Gari village in Kanowa district of Zamfara State and kidnapped the imam and 17 other worshippers.


The attack reportedly occurred on Friday, November 20.


The Police Public Relations officer in Zamfara State, Mohammed Sheu, who confirmed the incident, said the gunmen stormed the mosque during a congregational prayer.

The PPRO said that the gunmen killed some members of the community during the attack.


He also revealed that the Force has set plans to secure the release of the abducted persons.


The attack is the latest in a string of kidnapping that have rocked the North West region in recent times.

Eons Intelligence on November 8, had reported that the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, secured the release of 26 girls abducted by bandits.


Similarly, unknown gunmen abducted Sani Dangwaggo, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gamji ward of Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State on October 7.
