Military Success: Five Terrorists Killed, Kidnappers Arrested in Borno"

Troops of the Nigerian Army, engaged in counter-terrorism operations in Borno State, have neutralized five terrorists during a raid on their hideouts in the Ajiri and Mastari villages of Bama Local Government Area.

In a statement shared on Tuesday via X, the Army reported that the operation resulted in the recovery of Rocket Propelled Grenade bombs, two AK-47 magazines, 28 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, and a light machine gun.

"Through a series of decisive operations, Nigerian Army troops have delivered another significant blow to terrorist groups, eliminating high-profile fighters and recovering dangerous weapons, including rocket bombs and a large stockpile of ammunition. This has further restricted the adversary's movement across the region."

The statement detailed that on September 29, 2024, a high-intensity raid targeted Boko Haram/ISWAP strongholds in the villages of Ajiri and Mastari. Using superior firepower, the troops successfully eliminated four notorious fighters. A subsequent sweep of the area revealed additional weapons, including 2 RPG bombs, 2 AK-47 magazines, 28 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 25 rounds of 7.62x54mm Light Machine Gun ammunition, and a Light Machine Gun Barrel. Another terrorist was neutralized during an encounter at Banki Junction, Bama Local Government Area.

The troops also rescued four kidnapped civilians who had been injured by their abductors. Responding to a distress call, they swiftly moved in, forcing the terrorists to flee, leaving behind the injured victims, who were immediately evacuated for medical care.

In a separate operation in Plateau State, troops arrested two notorious kidnap kingpins. Acting on precise intelligence, they apprehended Isah Abdullahi (24) and Mujahid Musa (23) in the forested mountains of Panyam. Initial investigations revealed the duo’s involvement in multiple violent attacks in Mangu Local Government Area.
