ALL STAFF UNIONS IN LASU PREVENT VC, STUDENTS FROM ENTERING UNIVERSITY

All staff unions of the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, prevented the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagboun, and its students from gaining entry into the University.

Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had announced that undergraduate students in their final year in all Lagos State tertiary institutions should resume today, September 14th, 2020.

The unions include Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union, and the National Association of Academic Technologists.

They were protesting the non-payment of the salary raise promised by the Lagos State Government 12 months ago.

According to reports, the aggrieved unions blocked the gate and impeded members of staff from entering the premises.

The unions alleged that other staff of the Lagos State Government had received a raise in their salaries but all higher institutions in the State haven’t benefitted from the increment.
