GEORGIA CONFIRMS JOE BIDEN'S VICTORY AFTER RECOUNT
A recount in the State of Georgia has confirmed Joe Biden’s victory over Donald Trump.
This is another blow to the President who has refused to concede defeat more than two weeks after election day.
Authorities in Georgia had announced they were recounting 5 million of the ballots cast, after a request from the Trump campaign, and after secretary of state Brad Raffensperger initially said the vote was 'too close to call'.
“The audit confirmed that the original machine count accurately portrayed the winner of the election,” a statement posted on the website of Georgia's Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger said.
This confirmation makes Biden the first Democratic presidential candidate to win the southern US state in almost three decades, despite Donald Trump’s claims of fraud.
