COURT GRANTS ABBA KYARI 50M BAIL
The former head of the Rapid Response Team (IRT), Inspector General of Police, Abba Kyari has been granted bail of N50 million with two sureties in like sum by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, today 6th July, 2023.
Justice Omotosho added that the sureties must have property worth N25m within the court’s jurisdiction, among other conditions.
However, the judge held that even when Kyari meets the conditions, the endorsement of his release warrant is subject to developments in a sister-case in which he is being tried with four others on alleged involvement in dealing illicit drugs.
Recall that Kyari alongside some members of his team was taken into custody in February 2022 following the alleged $61,400 cash and 25kg parcel of cocaine seized from him by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
