CUSTOMS, NCOS FOSTER INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION TO ENHANCE SECURITY
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Oyo/Osun Area Command and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) have forged a more vital inter-agency collaboration to enhance security within Oyo State.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs Kayode Wey, on Thursday, 25 July, 2024.
According to the statement, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Ben Oramalugo, hosted his counterpart, Comptroller Oluyole Olasumbo, Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Oyo State Command.
"The visit aimed to foster stronger inter-agency collaboration and mutual support between the Nigerian Correctional Service and the Nigeria Customs Service, emphasising the importance of cooperation in enhancing security and operational efficiency within Oyo State”, the statement reads.
Oramalugo provided a brief history of the Nigerian Correctional Service and the Nigeria Customs Service, adding that the visit highlighted the significance of inter-agency collaboration in achieving shared security and community service goals.
The statement also noted that both parties discussed enhancing coordination between the two agencies to improve overall security in the region, exploring opportunities for joint training programmes to boost the skills and capabilities of officers from both services and strengthening efforts to engage with local communities to improve public awareness about the roles and responsibilities of both services.
The CAC expressed enthusiasm for exploring ways for both services to work more closely together to enhance the safety and well-being of the people of Oyo State.
In her remarks, Comptroller Olasumbo stated that the visit marks an essential step in building a stronger partnership between both arms of the Federal Government.
