FCT police arrest four suspects linked to robbery of Bolt, Uber drivers and vehicle theft
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly involved in attacking commercial ride-hailing drivers and stealing their vehicles.
The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Ismail, Ahmad Umar, Riskwa Shehu and Umar Abubakar, were arrested on 7th July, 2026, by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following credible intelligence.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly operated by disguising themselves as passengers and using e-hailing platforms such as Bolt and Uber to request rides before attacking drivers, dispossessing them of their vehicles and other valuables.
Police recovered two vehicles suspected to have been stolen from the suspects, including an ash-coloured Toyota RAV4 with registration number YAB 240 DL and a grey Honda Civic with registration number ABC 72 JP.
The Command said investigations are ongoing, adding that the suspects will be charged to court upon the completion of the process.
