Gunmen Kill Three Policemen in Achi, Set Patrol Van Ablaze
Unknown gunmen have killed three police officers on patrol in Achi, a community in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State. The attack occurred today at about 2:00 p.m. near the popular Ozuda Market.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants, who operated in a black, tinted Lexus SUV, opened fire on the officers without warning. Two of the officers were killed instantly, while the third—though still breathing after being shot—was dragged into the patrol van by the attackers before they set it ablaze.
The gunmen fled the scene immediately after the assault. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but Oji River LGA has previously witnessed multiple incidents linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), including a past attack on the local police station.
