LAGOS POLICE ARREST GUNRUNNING SYNDICATE, RECOVER FIREARMS
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two members of a notorious cross-border gunrunning syndicate, identified as Shokoti Roborth and Ojelade Yusuf, in Atan-Otta, Ogun State.
The arrest followed an intelligence report received by the AIG of the command, detailing the criminal activities of the gang. Roborth, the Nigerian head of the cross-border gunrunning gang and an Eiye cult member, was found in possession of two newly manufactured locally made pistols in his handbag. Subsequent investigation at his residence in Atan Township led to the discovery of two additional pistols in his possession.
During interrogation, he confessed to smuggling and selling small arms into the country from Benin Republic.
Additionally, his confession led to the arrest of Yusuf, another Eiye cult member, who was found in possession of a pump action gun that he claimed to have bought from his absconding friend. The investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly.
