MANCHESTER CITY APPOINTS JUANMA LILLO AS ASSISTANT MANAGER

Manchester City has appointed Juanma Lillo as the club’s assistant manager, according to the Daily Mail.


Recall that last year December, Former City assistant manager, Mikel Arteta left the club to take charge of Arsenal Football Club.


Arteta was Pep Guardiola’s number two at the Ethihad for three years before he made an astonishing return to replace Unai Emery at his former club, Arsenal.


Prior to Lillo’s appointment, the Spaniard had led Chinese side, Qingdao Huanghai, to the Chinese League one title.


The 54-year-old also had managerial spells at Oviedo, Tenerife, Zaragoza, and Real Sociedad, and the Chile National Team.


Interestingly, he previously managed City Manager, Pep Guardiola towards the end of his career as a player at Mexican side, Dorados de Sinaloa


Speaking on joining City, Lillo said: "I am delighted to have joined Manchester City’s coaching staff." “It’s a pleasure to become a part of this group and I hope to make an important contribution to the club’s success going forward,"


Manchester City will face long term rivals Arsenal when the season resumes next weekend.
