Nigeria Police Repatriates Wanted Chinese Gang Leader in Major INTERPOL Operation

The Nigeria Police Force has repatriated a high-profile Chinese fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng, in a landmark transnational operation coordinated through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja.

Qisheng, a notorious gang leader wanted in Guizhou Province, China, for organizing and leading violent crimes, fled his country in 2024 after a warrant was issued by the Zhijin County Public Security Bureau. He was tracked and apprehended by operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory on August 8, 2025.

Following his arrest, the fugitive was repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, described the operation as a significant success in the fight against transnational organized crime. He reiterated that Nigeria will not serve as a safe haven for criminals, stressing the importance of international cooperation in combating global crime networks.

The IGP further assured that the Force will continue to strengthen intelligence-sharing and cross-border policing to ensure justice is served beyond national borders.
