Troops Foil Bandits’ Attack, Neutralize Two Terrorists in Taraba

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have foiled a terrorist attack, killing two terrorists and seizing weapons during an operation in Taraba State.

The operation, conducted on 1 October 2025 under Operation Lafiya Nakowa, followed credible intelligence that bandits were converging at Tor Ikyeghgba village. On arrival, troops engaged the terrorists along the Powerline axis in a fierce exchange of gunfire, overpowering them with superior firepower.

Items recovered from the scene included one locally fabricated pistol, two Dane guns, three rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, one Baofeng radio, a motorcycle, and other items.


Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift and professional response, urging them to sustain the momentum. He reassured residents that the Nigerian Army remains committed to restoring peace and security in Taraba State.


He further appealed to the public to continue supporting security operations by providing timely and credible information to aid the fight against criminality.
