Troops of the 144 Battalion (Rear), operating under Operation EASTERN SANITY, have successfully arrested three suspected criminals and recovered a stolen Mack truck during a night patrol on February 11, 2026. The operation took place in the early hours at the Akpaa area, following credible intelligence about criminal activity in the locality.

Acting promptly on the received intelligence, the troops mobilized to the area and apprehended the suspects: Darlington Ubochi (25) from Ugwunagbo LGA, Chinedu Abara (33), and Julius Chinemem Godwin (29) from Obingwa LGA, both in Abia State. The suspects were found in possession of a Mack truck with the registration number T 4477 LA, which had been reported stolen on February 8, 2026, from Port Harcourt Road in Aba and parked at Opobo Junction.

A preliminary investigation confirmed the vehicle was indeed stolen prior to its recovery. The truck is being transported to the 144 Battalion Forward Operating Base in Osisioma, while the suspects remain in military custody for further investigation. The military plans to hand them over to the appropriate authorities.

This operation highlights the ongoing commitment of the Brigade to combat criminal activity and ensure the safety of lives and property within its area of operation. Further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
