Governor Abba Yusuf Inaugurates Sharia and Zakkat Commissions in Kano
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Monday, officially inaugurated the Chairmen, Commissioners, and Members of the Sharia Commission and Zakkat and Hubusi Commission.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi DawakinTofa.
During the inauguration, Governor Yusuf highlighted Kano’s significance in the Islamic world, citing its rich legacy of scholars, Islamiyya schools, and Islamic study centers. He emphasized that the appointed officials were selected based on merit, competence, and trustworthiness, expressing confidence in their ability to serve with dedication, enthusiasm, and integrity.
The Sharia Commission was tasked with promoting unity among various Muslim sects, fostering peace, stability, and socioeconomic development in Kano State.
Similarly, the Zakkat and Hubusi Commission was charged with implementing strategies to collect alms (Zakkat) from wealthy individuals to support the less privileged, thereby reducing poverty across the state.
