COVID-19: Taraba State Government Orders Closure of Markets and Worship Centres
Taraba State government has ordered the shutdown of all markets, shops and worship centres in the state over the Coronavirus pandemic in the country, which takes effect from Thursday, April 2nd.
The Deputy Governor of the State, Haruna Manu, said the order is a precautionary measure put in place to curtail the spread of COVID-19 and hereby cautioned that the measure taken should not give room for panic buying, hoarding or inflation of prices of goods and services.
Manu stated that pharmacies, food stores and petrol service stations were exempted from the order due to their essentiality nature.
He said that the state government will always give periodic updates on the situation to keep the people abreast.
Manu explained that, other precautionary measures taken by the government to contain the virus include equipping isolation centres with necessary medical aids to facilitate their service. Speaking further, Manu commended the efforts of medical personnel working towards curbing the ugly situation.
He echoed the STAY AT HOME slogan as the key instrument to keep the people safe and avoid further spread of the virus.
