FCT Police Bust Car Theft Syndicates, Recover 17 Vehicles, Arrest 14 Suspects
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded major successes in its ongoing fight against crime, with the recovery of 17 stolen vehicles and the arrest of 14 suspects linked to criminal activities across Abuja.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, disclosed that the achievements followed intensified intelligence-led operations carried out between March and April 2026 across key areas including Mabushi, Durumi, Maitama, and the Central Police Station.
According to the Command, the suspects are connected to car theft syndicates and “one chance” robbery operations.
In a related development, police operatives foiled a “one chance” robbery attempt on April 10, 2026. One suspect was arrested at the scene after a gun exchange, while another was later apprehended during follow-up operations. Two female victims were rescued from the suspects’ vehicle and are currently receiving care.
The Command also warned against the spread of false security information, noting the arrest and arraignment of one Pam Joshua for circulating misleading content capable of causing public panic.
The FCT Police Command urged residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and to report any suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
