FORMER JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER SHINZO ABE ASSASINATED.
Japan’s former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot at a campaign event on Friday around 1130hrs, in the country’s western region of Nara.
According to National broadcaster (NHK)The senior member of Abe’s Liberal Democratic Party confirmed Abe died at a hospital in Kashihara city, Nara, where he was receiving medical treatment.
Abe, aged 67 had been delivering a stump speech with security present but spectators were able to approach him fairly easily.
He was bleeding from the neck, after the second shot and was initially responsive but subsequently lost consciousness.
Report indicates that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
