FORMER MILITARY GOVERNOR OF LAGOS, BUBA MARWA RESUMES AS NEW NDLEA CHAIRMAN

Former Military Governor of Lagos State, Mohammed Buba Marwa rtd, has resumed as the new Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).


Marwa, addressing senior officers of the Agency in Abuja on Monday revealed his plans to overhaul the NDLEA to effectively deal with the menace of drug abuse in the country.


He warned that the agency would deal with all those involved in drug and substance abuse in the country.


Marwa, who is a former Military Administrator of Lagos and Borno State, was appointed as the Chairman of NDLEA on Saturday by President Muhammadu Buhari.


As a close ally of the President, Marwa had worked as Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee for the Elimination of Drug Abuse (PACEDA) between 2018 and December 2020, along with others to develop a system on how to end drug abuse in Nigeria.


Marwa was once military attaché, Nigerian Embassy, Washington DC, USA, and defence attaché, United Nations, New York, as well as former ambassador to South Africa and the Kingdoms of Lesotho and Swaziland.
