FCT Land Revocations: Buhari, Akume, Abbas Affected
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has revoked land allocations belonging to former President Muhammadu Buhari, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, among others, due to non-payment of Certificate of Occupancy fees.
A total of 759 prominent individuals and organizations in Maitama II, Abuja, were affected by the revocation. This action was detailed in a publication by the FCT Administration and shared by the Special Adviser to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka.
In a related development, the minister also issued a warning in a separate notice, threatening to revoke land allocations for the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda; former Senate Presidents Iyorchia Ayu and Ameh Ebute; Chief Whip of the Senate Tahir Monguno; and 610 others if outstanding Certificate of Occupancy fees are not paid within two weeks.
This decisive action follows months of repeated appeals by the minister urging FCT residents, particularly those in upscale areas of Abuja, to settle outstanding land fees or face revocation of their properties.
