GOVERNOR SULE SACKS SSG

Governor of Nasssarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has sacked the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed-Tijani over alleged corruption.


Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed-Tijani, who was Commissioner for Education under the regime of Former Governor, Umaru Al- Makura, was alleged to have embezzled N1 billion meant for the renovation of schools, and was indicted by the State House of Assembly ad-hoc committee investigating the situation.


The news of his dismissal was announced in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Government House Administration, Alhaji Hamza Gayam, on Monday in Lafia.


The statement said Governor Sule had directed the former SSG to immediately surrender all Government assets and resources in his guardianship to the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs in the Office of the SSG, Mr Muazu Adamu-Gosho.


The house said the former Commissioner displayed inefficiency, incompetency, and ineffectiveness in the performance of his official duties and advised the Governor to sack him.


Following the indictment, the state legislators asked Ahmed-Tijani to refund over N248.5 million to the State Government.
