GUNMEN MURDER BUSINESSMAN AS POLICE NAB 2 ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN DELTA
A group of yet-to-be identified assailants, on Wednesday killed a 58-year-old Imo State-born businessman, Anthony Mkpado at his home in Agbor, Delta State.
The deceased, before his death, owned and managed the popular Mkpado Bookshop, located opposite First Bank, Agbor, Felta State.
Eons intelligence gathered from local sources that Mkpado’s killers forced their way into the house, brandishing dangerous weapons. They were said to have been initially resisted by the occupants of the house, which led to a hot argument.
The killers reportedly descended on Mkpado with machetes and axes as soon as he came out of his room. He was left with deep cuts and in a pool of blood.
He was subsequently rushed to St. John’s Catholic Hospital, Boji-Boji Owa, where he was confirmed dead by doctors.
The late Mkpado hails from Isikpo in Ideato North Local Council of Imo State.
Before his untimely death, he was a devout Christian and a member of Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe has confirmed the incident. He said Police is on the trail of the assailants.
DSP Edafe also announced the arrest of three suspected armed robbers by the State anti-crime patrol team attached to Ekpan Police Station on Saturday.
He said the Police, while on patrol, stop and search duty, flagged down three persons on a motorcycle at Benjones area, around Hausa Market, along NPA Expressway, Warri, Delta State.
“The suspects alighted from the motorcycle and one of them surprisingly shot at the team, but the team who were strategically positioned returned same which resulted to a gun battle, one of the suspects named Yusuf Ibrahim ‘m’ age 27, was shot on his left foot, which brought him down and he was arrested along with the rider of the motorcycle, one Hashimu Garba ‘m’ 30 yrs of Mami Market, Effurun, while the third suspect escaped", he stated.
He said one cut-to-size locally-made single barrel gun, three live cartridges and two expended cartridges were recovered from the suspects. He also said the Police is on the trail of the other fleeing suspect.
