INSURGENCY: ARMED FORCES KILLED 17 BANDITS IN JOINT OPERATION IN KADUNA

Seventeen armed bandits were killed in a joint operation launched by the Armed Forces of Nigeria and troops of Operations THUNDER STRIKE and WHIRL PUNCH with air support from the Air Component of Operation GAMA AIKI, at Kabarasha Villages in Gwagwalada District of Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State.

This is contained in a statement disclosed by the Defence Headquarters on Monday, May 11.

It says, seventeen armed bandits were neutralized while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Sadly, 3 houses and a church building were partially damaged at Kabarasha Village in the course of pursuing the bandits, though no civilian casualty was recorded.

Responding to this, The Armed Forces called the unintentional damage to the buildings an "unfortunate incident."

The force, however, said the buildings had been identified to provide compensation to the owners.

A panel has also been set up to investigate the occurrence in liaison with the Kaduna State Government.

Also, calm has been restored to the area. The people who fled the area for fear of reprisal attacks have all returned to the community, the Armed Forces said.

The High Command of the Armed Forces of Nigeria thanked the General public for their support in providing credible information, assuring the General public that it will not relent in bringing an end to the bandits.
