KATSINA POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS CLERIC FOR KIDNAPPING OWN COUSIN

The Nigeria Police Force, Katsina State Command, has highlighted some of its major achievements in the fight against high profile crime in recent times.


State Commissioner of Police, CP Sanusi Buba, intimated the press on some of these cases at a press briefing held yesterday at Maiduguri. 


The Command announced the arrest of an Islamic cleric, Jamilu Idris, who allegedly masterminded the kidnapping of his four year old cousin. During investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime. He further confessed to have demanded a ransom of five million naira from his uncle, the child's father. Consequently, the complainant reported the matter to the Police and in the course of forensic investigation, the suspect was traced and arrested. 


The Command also announced the arrest of the duo of Jafaru Suleiman, 45 and Mustapha Usman, 30 of Yargoje village, Kankara LGA of Katsina state. The two suspects allegedly hide under the guise of being members of the local vigilante group to engage in armed robbery. Luck however ran out on them when they robbed and dispossed a man of his monies and other valuables. They left the man in a pool of his blood, thinking he was dead, after leaving him with life threatening bodily injuries. 


The Command also succeeded in arresting three young men, all under the age of 25, from Kongolom village, Mai’adua LGA of Katsina state with forty-seven Jerricans, loaded with petrol, in a vehicle at Mani LGA of the State, suspected to be meant for onward transportation to bandits and boko haram terrorists in remote villages. The Command said Investigation is ongoing in that case.


In a related case, the Command said, based on a tip off, it successfully bursted a syndicate who specialises in supplying information, fuel and other supplies to boko haram terrorists in the State. They are: Muhammadu Abdullahi, M, 36, Hamisu Hamisu, M, 21, Ahmed Rufa’I, M, 25.

  

The Command also intimated the press on success in bursting a syndicate of armed robbers that scaled through the fence of the house of one Babangida Muhammad at Dan-Tudu Quarters, Jibia LGA, killed his mother, one Sa’adatu Muhammad, 70 and his daughter, one Aishatu Babangida,15.  


The suspects also allegedly injured four toddlers in the robbery operation. After a painstaking investigation, the suspects confessed to the crime. The Command said the suspects shall have their day in court soon. 


A team of Police Mobile Personnel on guard duty at the Federal Government Girl’s Collage, Bakori, the previous week, accosted and arrested one Suleiman Yusuf, 19, of Shibdawa village, Bindawa LGA of Katsina state, found loitering inside the school premises. In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to be an informant to bandits, who were apparently lurking in the forests for an opportunity to kidnap the hapless students. The Command said the suspect is helping the Police with investigations. 


SP Gambo Isah, Force Public Relations Officer, Katsina State Command, who represented the State Commissioner of Police at the briefing assured all of the Command's determination to rid the State of criminal elements. He also urged members of the public to co-operate with the Police in this regard.
