He noted that Major General Mutkut's deep understanding of the security landscape within the Lake Chad Basin would greatly benefit ongoing counterterrorism operations in the region.

Major General Godwin Mutkut is a distinguished senior officer of the Nigerian Army, renowned for his extensive operational experience and exemplary leadership. He is widely recognized as a tenacious leader, having commanded the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, which played a key role in combating terrorism and banditry in North West Nigeria. His appointment underscores the commitment of MNJTF member states to ensuring capable leadership in tackling the complex security challenges within the Lake Chad region.
