NGANZAI LGA CHAIRMAN LEADS HEROIC RESCUE OF MOTORISTS UNDER BOKO HARAM ATTACK ALONG GAJIRAM ROAD, BORNO

Asheikh Mamman Gadai, Chairman of Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno State on Friday led a team to rescue many stranded motorists under threat of Boko Haram insurgents attack along Gajiram Road of the State.



Eons Intelligence gathered that the heroic Chairman alongside the rescue team on Friday afternoon came to the aid of the troubled motorists who scampered for safety following threats by the insurgents on the road.


Source says the insurgents fled immediately after sighting the Chairman and the team from afar. Following the successful attack foiling, the motorists were led to Maiduguri, the State capital by Gadai.



Gajiram which is about 70 km (44 miles) north of Maiduguri has experienced series of Boko haram attacks.


On 21st November 2020, insurgents attacked Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum's convoy and killed at least nine people along Gajiram-Monguno road. Zulum escaped uninjured from the attack, but two civilians and seven soldiers were killed.


In 2019, 10 Nigerian soldiers were killed while many others were injured in a Boko haram attack on a military base in Gajiram in the Lake Chad area of Borno state.



The insurgents also captured six four-wheel drive vehicles, weapons and ammunition, and burned an armored vehicle in the attack on a Nigerian Army base.


On 30 August 2019, at least three Nigerian soldiers were killed and eight others injured in an insurgents ambush between Gajiram and Monguno.

Residents of Borno state are advised to monitor developments to the situation, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their State government.
