OSIBANJO CHARGES MILITARY ON TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS

Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo has charged the leadership of Nigerian Military on the need to develop a curriculum on modern weaponry, through the prioritisation of science and engineering education.

Professor Osibanjo dropped this hint at the combined convocation of the 68 Regular Course of Cadet and Post Graduate Students in Kaduna recently. The Vice President noted that this paradigm shift is needed to shape Military thought and the philosophy of Cadets in the Nigerian Defence Academy.

“In this direction, those modern disciplines that bother on sound Military thought and philosophy should be given priority with subjects such as Modern Weaponry and Engineering, intelligence, logistics and asymmetrics relevant to our contemporary need rather than argumentative judgments and mere regurgitation of facts, theories and thesis.” He posited.

The Vice President, represented by the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi, adviced the convocated Cadets and Post Graduate Students to remain steadfast and diligent in their future endeavours.

“You should know that knowledge is power. It is meaningful to you when you develop the corresponding skill sets and competence to the application of its principles to life situations and appeals. ”

On his part, the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf announced that the two thousand eight hundred and five graduands were products of five faculties and nine centres of excellence in Research.

Gen. Manu thanked the Federal Government, whose support to the Academy he said has remained unflinching. He also stated that the institution will not relent in producing the desired results of its mandate.

High light of the event was the presentation of Certificates to the graduating Cadets and Post graduate students.
