Troops Rescue Seven Kidnapped Victims in Plateau
Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have successfully rescued seven kidnapped victims in Riyom Local Government Area (LGA), Plateau State. The rescue mission was part of Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A, targeting criminal hideouts in the Attakar high grounds of the Ganawuri district.
Acting on intelligence reports, troops identified the location where victims, abducted along the Jos-Ganawuri road on March 7, 2025, were being held. Upon engaging the kidnappers, the troops’ superior firepower forced the criminals to flee into the high grounds, leaving the hostages behind.
The rescued victims—Sale Umar, Muhammadu Inusa, Abdullahi Abdulrasaq, Abdulsalam Muhammad, Muhammad Hamisu, Ibrahim Maradu, and Saidu Sani, all from Bauchi State—were safely recovered. Troops also retrieved a bag containing a blanket and clothing materials abandoned by the fleeing kidnappers.
Following their rescue, the victims were debriefed for intelligence gathering to aid follow-up operations aimed at tracking down the kidnappers. They have since been reunited with their families.
Operation SAFE HAVEN has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating criminal elements within its operational area and ensuring the safety of residents. The manhunt for the kidnappers remains ongoing, with a focus on their arrest and prosecution.
