CONTAINER SHIP THOUGHT TO BE MISSING LOCATED IN LAGOS, ALL CREW SAFE

Dyrad Global has confirmed that the Ship Security Alert System (SSAS) activated on the Panamanian flagged container ship MT ERRINA ' appears to have been in error' as the vessel has been has subsequently been shown to be at a location South of Lagos.


Initial report indicates that the vessel position was 200nm West Sao Tome, according to Dryad Global, this position would have been irregular to her known trading pattern.


The vessel was said to have departed Limboh anchorage on October 20 heading in a South West Direction.

The vessel stopped broadcasting on AIS at around 3.00 on the same day. It has an established trading pattern between Lome, Lagos and the wider Niger Delta region.


Source says the vessel was attacked by pirates who stole two mooring ropes .


Immediately after the attack alert, the Nigerian Navy launched a search operation to arrest any vessel not broadcasting on AIS.

Report on October 23, says the vessel was boarded, however all crew members had managed to retreat to the vessel citadel and are safe and accounted for.
