OYO SPEAKER ANNOUNCES DISSOLUTION OF 36 STANDING HOUSE COMMITTEES
The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin has announced the dissolution of all 36 standing committees of the Assembly.
The Speaker made the announcement just before the adjournment of the Assembly’s plenary held on Thursday.
Ogundoyin directed all the Chairman of the committees to hand over all ongoing and concluded bills, reports to their respective committee clerks.
He noted that ad-hoc committees will be set up to ratify and complete the 10 outstanding bills in the Assembly before going on recess.
According to Ogunoyin, all lawmakers and staff of the Assembly will be asked to complete evaluation forms. He directed them to state in their forms comprehensive activities, engagements both in the Assembly and at their various constituencies.
Addressing newsmen after the plenary, he said; “Standing committees are one of the pillars of the Legislature and the House of Assembly.
“This is our 2nd Year in office. We are expected to re-evaluate our position, we are expected to be more efficient and effective in our duties as legislators in terms of oversight and lawmaking as well as other functions of the legislators.
“When new committees are constituted, it will allow members to have new experiences and ultimately widen their horizon.”
