PIRATES ATTEMPT TO ATTACK VESSEL ON LAGOS WATERS

Armed pirates on Saturday, November 7 made attempts to attack a tanker on Lagos waters at about 5.20 pm.

The attack, however, was unsuccessfully as armed guards onboard the ship showed a display of force and fired three warning shots which made the pirates abort their mission.

Sources say the pirates who were armed with guns approached the tanker using a speed boat and got within a 250 metres radius.

The vessel and crew are all safe as the master adhered to security protocols.

The threat has now been neutralized and the tanker has resumed sailing.

Earlier today, a Singapore flagged Chemical tanker was attacked by pirates in the South of Benin while in transit from Lome.
