POLICE ARREST LOVERS OVER KILLING THEIR BABY IN ADAMAWA STATE
The operatives of Adamawa State Police Command on 13 July 2023 arrested a 20-year-old woman, Blessing Ben suspected to have killed her newborn baby alongside her lover, Iliyasu the accomplice in the crime at Jambutu, Yola North LGA, Adamawa State.
The information available indicates that Miss Ben who gave birth to a baby boy on 8th July 2023 at her parents' home allegedly killed her baby and concealed the remains of the dead child in the waste bin at her residence for three days.
Consequently, the waste was given to the waste collector who dropped all at the debris dump where a scavenger opened the waste and found the decomposing body of the child.
However, they alerted onlookers to the sight of the dead child, which resulted in inviting the police to the scene.
Thereupon, in an interrogation with Ben, she vehemently denied killing the baby she painstakingly carried for nine months.
Meanwhile, the police handed over the remains of the child to experts for autopsy before charging the suspected lovers to court for prosecution.
