The Ogun State Police Force has arrested four members of a notorious armed robbery gang in their meeting place on Sunday.

The suspects identified as; Sukanmi Tajudeen, Habeeb Oladimeji, Sunday Akintunde, and Ishola Samson have been a constant menace, tormenting residents in the Mowe/Ibafo axis, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) made this known in a statement earlier today.

The PPRO said the suspects had been on the run and were on the wanted list of the police before their eventual arrest.

Oyeyemi added they were arraigned following an intelligence report received by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) about the hideout of the gang at Adesan area of Mowe.

“On getting the report, the officer-in-charge of SARS, CSP Tijani Muhammed, dispatched his operatives to the area and the hideout was professionally cordoned off for an operation which lasted for about an hour.

“At the end of the operation, the four suspects were apprehended while some members of the gang escaped through the nearby bush,” Oyeyemi said.

The police spokesperson said some of the items retrieved from the suspects during the operation include one locally made triplet barrel pistol, one locally made single barrel pistol, thirteen live cartridges, and one Bajaj motorcycle.

He said a search is on-going for the other members of the gang who are on the run.
