POLICE RESCUE TWO SUSPECTS ACCUSED OF RITUAL KILLING IN ANAMBRA STATE
The operatives of Anambra State Police Command on 7th June 2023 at about 1000hrs rescued two persons from being lynched to death following false accusations of being involved in ritual killings at Ihiala LGA, Anambra State.
The suspects, a male and a female, were paraded naked by members of the community with the corpse of the victims being lumped in a wheelbarrow, as the mobs ordered the suspects to push them in turns.
The information available indicates that the suspects have allegedly killed three persons in the village to use their corpses for money ritual before they were caught by the villagers.
Consequently, the police invaded the scene and lawfully cleared the case not to be a ritual killing but a pure incidence murder case.
Meanwhile, both the suspect and victims are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital. While the deceased has been deposited in a morgue.
Ikenga quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng as calling for calm, while the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka for a comprehensive investigation.
