President Tinubu Mourns Ibadan Funfair Tragedy, Orders Thorough Investigation
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident at the Children's FunFair in Ibadan, which claimed the lives of innocent children and left many others injured.
In a statement, the President conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Oyo State, as well as to the grieving families who lost their loved ones in the devastating event. He assured the affected families of his solidarity and prayed for the repose of the departed souls.
In response to the tragedy, President Tinubu has directed the relevant authorities to launch an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident. He stressed the need to uncover any acts of negligence or deliberate actions that may have contributed to the unfortunate event, pledging transparency and accountability in the process.
The President also urged the Oyo State Government to implement stringent measures to prevent a recurrence of such incidents. He called for a comprehensive review of safety protocols for public events, the enforcement of safety regulations, and regular audits of event venues to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Additionally, the President appealed to event organisers to prioritise the safety of attendees, especially children, by employing professional security measures and effective logistics to safeguard lives.
