SOUTHEAST GOVERNORS AGREE TO SET UP A DEVELOPMENTAL FUND FOR IGBO LAND
Governors of the Southeastern part of Nigeria have agreed to set up Alaigbo Stabilization Fund, a developmental foundation for Igbo land.
The Alaigbo Stabilization Fund is aimed at building the Eastern part of the country to be at par with other first world countries like Catalonia in Spain, and Bayern in Germany.
The plan was said to be executed in conjunction with Ohanaeze Ndigbo, an apex Igbo socio-cultural group that represents all Igbo communities within and outside Nigeria.
Chief Emeka Attamah, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo, made this known in a statement.
Speaking further on the proposed programme, Attamah said a 50-man steering committee made up of experts and professionals in banking, finance, and development economics,from the diaspora and all the South East States, have been set up to draft the basis of Alaigbo Stabilization Fund and its governance protocol.

Stakeholders have noted that it would be futile to wait solely on the Federal government to embark on restructuring, stating that if programmes like the Alaigbo Stabilization Fund are properly executed, citizens would successfully develop their zones.
The committee is headed by Prof. Osita Ogbu, a renowned economist and development expert and former Economic Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo, while, Anyim Ude will serve as its Secretary.
Aside from the Chairman and his Secretary, other members of the Committee are Mac Atasia, Ike Chioke, Patrick Okigbo, Nnanna Anyim Ude, Dr Nick Okoye and Dr Ndy Onukwuesi.
Others are Emeka Onwuka, Dave Nwachukwu, Chief Aloysius Ihezie, Dr Bernard Orbika, Ngozi Odumuko, Jerome Okolo, Emeka Ugwuoju and Reginald Ihebuzor.
Also in the Committee are Ben Nwawudu, Monye Chuka, Dr Sam Amadi, Dr Joe Abah, Ede Solomon, Barrister Nwachukwu, Prof. Ejiofor of WIC and Air Vice Marshall Obierika.
Also included are Prof. Epiphany Azinge, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, Charles Nwodo, Kalu Onuma, Solomon E. Adimora, Uzodinmma Okpara, Chief Tony Okeke, Okey Nwadinobi, Onyeka Onwenu, Mrs Ann Aligwe, Ebere Onwudiwe, Emma Onyilofor, AIG Dr (Mrs) Grace Okudo, Dr Chukwuma Agu and Prof.Joy Ezeilo.
Also on the list are Ambassador Alex Nwofe, Ben Ezenta, Ebere Enemchukwu, Max Osita Okonkwo, Dr Mrs Grace Uwazuike, Dr Ken C. Nwekpa and Dr Ferdinand Agu.
Members of the Committee were carefully chosen based on their individual learning, competence and exposure, according to the statement.
As part of the efforts to intensify and speed up the execution of the project, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo said that the committee would involve all Igbo sons and daughters at home and abroad, adding that anyone who invests in the project would receive dividends.
