THREE PRIVATE HOSPITALS TO COMMENCE COVID-19 TREATMENT IN LAGOS
In a bid to further curtail the spread of COVID-19, the Lagos State Government has approved three private hospitals to manage Coronavirus cases.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Lagos State Ministry of Health on Saturday, June 6.
According to the statement, one of the accredited private hospitals had begun to admit patients, and the other two will begin accepting patients soon.
According to Prof Akin Abayomi, the State Commissioner for Health, the hospitals have passed the biosecurity compliance test, but the names of the hospitals were not disclosed.
The Health Commissioner said the management of the facilities had made modifications to their hospitals to prevent their staff and other patients from the contracting the virus.
"Those private hospitals have passed the test and we are just in the process of issuing them with accreditation certificate so that they can start managing COVID19 patients in the private sector", said Abayomi.

Recall, the Federal Government had warned that it would shut any private hospitals and other health facilities that treat COVID-19 patients without authorization.
Prof Akin Abayomi emphasized that the management of COVID-19 cases in private hospitals will be supervised by the Lagos State Government Ministry of Health.
"Also, information about every patient managed by the hospitals must be made available to us so that we can record it in our database.
COVID-19 remains a public crisis and all public crises are managed and supervised by the Lagos state government and by extension the federal government of Nigeria," Abayomi said.
